If you have lost your cat please go to our 'Contact Us' page and send us a photo, description and contact details for your lost cat so that Aussiecats.com can alert people to keep a lookout for your missing cat. Similarly if you have found a cat you can promote it here to see if Aussiecats.com can connect you with its owner.
If you have lost your cat in the Shire of Swan contact Julie's Kennels on (08) 9249 1270 immediately to save your cat from being euthanased. The Shire of Swan has euthanased 183 cats since March 2009 (that's 26 cats a month) under new local cat laws which allows your neighbours to legally trap your cats. Act quickly to save your cat!
Aussiecats.com will not personally search for your cat but hopefully by publicising your lost cat on our website, Aussiecats.com can put you in contact with someone who knows of its whereabouts.
Tips for finding your Lost Cat
When your cat goes missing there are several things you can do to find it:-
Contact all of the local vets in your area and ask whether cats matching your pets description have been brought in during the time that your cat has been missing. Leave your details with all vets contacted so they can ring you if someone does bring your cat in. If none of the local vets have seen your cat then contact those vets in surrounding areas up to 3 suburbs away as residents may have a favorite vet that they take their pets to that may not be in your immediate suburb. Leave your details with them.
Contact all the Pet Rescue groups in your State - the Cat Haven in WA charges $15.00 AU to search for your cat. You can find other Pet Rescue groups in your state by running an online search.
Distribute flyers to all the residents in your street and surrounding streets - include a photo of your cat if possible, date your cat went missing and a contact telephone number.
Knock on your neighbours doors in your street & 1 street either side - enquire as to whether anyone has seen your missing cat.
Contact the Shire Ranger or Shire Advocate at your local Shire - enquire as to whether a cat matching your pets description has been trapped and handed in to the Shire from your suburb.
Contact the Shire Pound of your local Shire/Council - see our 'Shire Pounds in WA' information page for contact details. If your Shire is not listed here then you will need to contact the Shire Ranger or Advocate first for their Shire Pound details.
Post lost cat ads on free classified ad sites on the Internet and online Cat forums
Note: If your cat is not microchipped or does not have an identifying tag with contact info of the owner you only have 7 days to locate your cat at a Shire Pound before it can be euthenized, so you need to act quickly!
