Aussiecats.com brings you information on the newly introduced local cat laws in Western Australia. For cat owners you will find the legislation for your particular council or shire plus tips on how to keep your cat protected under these laws. With loads of free articles and advice on microchipping your cat, identification tags and cat collars, shire pounds, cat care, moggy humour, a lost & found cats page and more... There is advice on your rights under the 'Freedom of Information Act' on finding out who has trapped your cat, stories from our site visitors on their experiences with the new cats laws. Under these new local laws cat owners have very little say - in fact none - in responding to shire rangers and advocates in regards to complaints made about their cats by neighbours. Nor do cat owners have any way of stopping the trapping of their cats under these laws even in their own street. There is no due process or procedural fairness to these laws, your cat can just disappear one day like mine did and be euthenized within 7 days if you can't locate it quickly enough - all thanks to one of your neighbours. This site is dedicated to helping cat owners protect their cats and to have a voice in the community to raise awareness of how wrongly these laws affect pet owners, their families and the cats themselves. Trapping cats and removing them from their own street and neighborhood under these new local laws is an emotional issue for the cat owner, their immediate family and for other pets in the household. Children are particularly affected when a beloved pet goes missing as are the elderly and those pet owners who have had their cats for a many years. Aussiecats.com features a contact list of local shire pounds and tips to help you locate your cat if it goes missing. There is a 'Lost & Found' page where you can post a photo and description of your lost cat to assist in its recovery as well as found cats that community members may come across.
